Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has joined the long list of potential managers who could replace Unai Emery at Arsenal. Emery has come under increasing pressure to quit following a disappointing start to the new season.
The Gunners currently sit eighth on the league standings with 18 points, an astonishing eight off fourth-placed Chelsea. Wolves, on the other hand, are fifth after recovering from a miserable start under Santo who also guided the club to Europa League.
The Portuguese tactician is now said to be the leading contender ahead of Mauricio Pochettino who was recently sacked at Tottenham to take over from Emery.Metro UK citing Daily Mail reports the Gunners’ hierarchy have been impressed by Santo’s tenure at Wolves and the general transformation of the club.
However, Arsenal could find it tough to land him mid-season with Wolves understood to be keen to keep the 45-year-old longer. As such, it is likely Freddie Ljungberg would take the reins on interim capacity until the end of the season when a permanent boss will be hired. |Neareel TV
